Research Topic

The past couple of weeks, I have been thinking of what my research topic would be.  I ended up thinking that I will research the impact the French had on the colonization of North America.  I want to learn why they came over, where they colonized, what impact they had and so on.   I guess I have a lot of work to do, so I better get started.

The Weeping Camel

When I arrived to class on Tuesday, I didn’t know what to expect from the movie The Weeping Camel. My thinking of what the movie would be about was vastly different than what it was.  First off, I didn’t really get this movie.  I didnt understand the correlation between the people and the camel.  Was it that they were growing into a family as well as the camel and her colt growing together and forming a bond or were the people there to just shed light on what was going on in the movie.  I also wanted to know what the role of the sheep were in the movie, they appeared at least four times.  As far as the movie as a whole goes, the movie at first glance would be one I would normally zip right on by when I would be picking out a movie.  As I started watching it though I got more into it, trying to figure out what the movie was trying to convey.  I felt bad for the little colt when his mom kept pushing him away while he was trying to feed.  I wonder why the mom would push her colt away, isn’t it basic of most mammals to nurse their young.  I guess in the end it all worked out, the colt was able to feed and grow and the mom grew close to it.  All in all, on a educational level I would say it was good.  On a personal level, I thought the movie was ok.

Hateful Things Exhibit

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend class on Tuesday to see the Hateful things Exhibit. I took a trip over the weekend to Boyne Mountain to go snowboarding for the first time! On the way back I was feeling really sick and it was hard for me to swallow food, so Monday all I did was lay in bed, hoping to get better. On Tuesday morning my throat was worst so I went to the urgent care center and the doctors office and it turned out I either had strep throat or mono. Fortunately it was just strep and they said that it would take 24 hours for the medicine to kick in and for it not to be contagious. Luckily, the antibiotic worked and I am feeling much better.

As far as the Hateful things Exhibit goes, I wish I could of seen it. From what we discussed in class on Thursday, there seemed to be a lot of controversial photos and objects. I particulairly wanted to see the Monopoly board everyone was talking about.
